“The evolution of the product sector, the growing request for products with more particular characteristics, an increasing awareness on the part of interested parties and of the company itself of the need to safeguard both man and the environment, the desire to improve the image of the company; all of these have changed our “business attitudes”.
Any development of our activities has to be sustainable and compatible with the environment around us. It must meet the needs of our customers and other interested parties in terms of quality, reliability, safety and respect for environmental and ethical values.
To this end, we have broadened our aims and gone beyond quality and the cost of production to embrace all aspects of production in terms of social, ethical and environmental effects, and of health and safety concerns.
The awareness of these issues has become a major driving force for the company and has been translated into a formal public promise that company activities will be of advantage not solely to interested parties, but also to society as a whole. Over and above this, the company is determined that the results of its activities will satisfy strategic and economic considerations in full respect of human values, regulations, and national and community law.
The management, fully aware of the importance of their potential results, undertakes to prosecute and to sustain the following policies:
• to make company policy publicly known and to guarantee that it is understood by company personnel;
• to aim for constant improvement in order to increase levels of customer satisfaction, to reduce any adverse environmental effects of company activities, to make better use of resources (water/energy/raw materials), to reduce to a minimum any risk of accidents involving interested parties and/or equipment;
• to conform to and guarantee respect of customer requests, legal requirements, national and community regulations regarding health, safety and the environment and any other standards to which the company subscribes;
• to monitor without interruption the quality indicators and environmental effects of manufacturing processes (emissions, dumping, soils, refuse, exposition to risk of the workforce);
• to program all company activities with regard to quality, the environment, safety and social responsibility, in such a way as to accomplish, control and review those activities themselves;
• to define and pursue specific objectives which are amenable to ongoing measurement and are correlated to the Quality, Environment and Safety Management System, and which will be analysed, ascertained and made known during the periodic reviews conducted by the management;
• to involve company personnel in the definition of the objectives and in the practice of improvement programs, according them access to the instruments and knowledge necessary to work in accordance with established procedures and instructions;
• to promote amongst company personnel, contractors, suppliers, customers, shareholders and the local community, information and training regarding quality, the environment, health, safety and social responsibility as relevant to company activities;
• to require all contractors working for the company to adopt similar criteria regarding quality, care for the environment, health, safety and worker's rights;
All of the above necessitates the active participation of all personnel who carry out or evaluate activities which affect quality, the environment, safety and the manufactured product. Each individual who is part of Società Chimica Larderello S.p.A. must be placed in a condition where he can understand and execute the tasks entrusted him. He shall be personally responsible for the quality, the environment, and the safety of his own work, and he has the duty to perform properly his own activities.
